3-Day Birdwatching Safari in Uganda takes you through the Mabamba Swamp near Lake Victoria, the lush Botanical Gardens in Entebbe, and the vibrant Mabira Forest Reserve along the Kampala-Jinja highway.
This tour includes two nights of accommodation, meals, and starts and concludes in Kampala/Entebbe. Discover the rich birdlife of Uganda in Entebbe, Mabamba Swamp, and Mabira Forest on this comprehensive 3-day tour.
Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Mabira Forest Reserve for Bird Watching.
After a hearty breakfast, we’ll depart from Kampala for a birdwatching adventure in Mabira Forest Reserve, a 1 to 2-hour drive away.
En-route, you will make a stopover at Ssezibwa Falls in Mukono, enjoy its sceneries, explore its cultural significance attached to it and later, connect to Eco tourism center at Mabira where you will meet the bird guides.
Start your 3 days birding safari Uganda with a guide with expectation to identify interesting bird species such as the African bellied paradise flycatchers, sooty flycatchers, grey headed sunbirds, dwarf kingfishers, blue breasted kingfishers, black and white casqued hornbill, Jameson’s wattle eyes, purple throated cuckoos, Great blue turacos to mention but a few.
After your birding exploration, return for lunch and in the afternoon, you may embark on zip lining experience. Return to Kampala for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Travel to Entebbe for Bird watching in the Botanical Gardens.
Have breakfast and after, drive to Entebbe for your second day of bird watching safari tour. Today, your 3 days birding safari Uganda involves exploring the Botanical Gardens a haven to over 150 bird species.
Look out for different bird species such as sunbirds, cuckoos, great red warblers, ross turacos, red chested superb as well as sight several monkeys while also enjoying the scenic view of Lake Victoria.
After, have picnic lunch in the lush gardens and later, visit Uganda Wildlife Education Centre to enjoy incredible view of diverse wildlife species including lions, giraffes, antelopes, leopards, zebras, chimps, birds including shoebill stork and many others. Dinner and overnight stay will be at hotel in Entebbe.
Day 3: Bird Watching in Mabamba Swamp and Return to your Hotel.
We’ll start our final day early with breakfast, followed by a drive to Mabamba bay. From there, we’ll take a boat or canoe ride to the Mabamba Wetland for our final birdwatching tour.
While here, your focus will be to identify the elusive shoebill storks, the white shouldered tit, papyrus gonoleks, African purple swamp hen, white faced whistling duck, swamp flycatchers, African water rail, Squacco heron, grey headed gull, blue breasted bee-eaters, spur winged lapwing, Madagascar bee-eaters and others.
